Community Collaboration

MSSA recognizes community collaborations that benefit the health and human service system through the Community Collaboration Award.

MSSA considers the following when selecting the Community Collaboration Award winner:

  • Participating agencies, volunteers and the community have demonstrated a high degree of collaboration to create or sustain a needed health and human service program or service
  • The service provided through the collaboration has met a need within the health and human service system
  • The service provided through the collaboration has demonstrated a long-term solution to a health and human service problem or issue
  • The collaboration has shown innovation in how it has worked together to create a solution, resources were utilized and distributed efficiently and effectively
  • The collaboration is made up of community partners, not just agencies; the community itself has contributed to the solution

2017 Community Collaboration Award Recipient: Hennepin County Office of Multicultural Services

MSSA is proud to recognize the Hennepin County Office of Multicultural Services as the 2017 Community Collaboration Award Recipient. Since 1999, the Hennepin County Office of Multicultural Services has served 600,000 individuals. The program is a collaboration among Hennepin County Joint Community Police Partnership, Augsburg College, St. Olaf College, University of St. Catherine, the Humphrey Institute, City of Minneapolis, public housing authorities, and several other non-profit agencies. The Hennepin County Office of Multicultural Services serves as a central point of entry for immigrants, refugees, and individuals with limited English proficiency in need of services. Program staff are bilingual and bicultural, with interpretation and translation available in 33 languages. Individuals can access a variety of services including immigration advocacy and legal services, case management, food support, child care, housing, and emergency assistance. MSSA thanks the Hennepin County Office of Multicultural Services for their service to the community. Congratulations!
