Outstanding Student Award

The Outstanding Student Award recognizes students who routinely demonstrate their ability to excel. MSSA considers the following components when selecting the Outstanding Student Award winner: 

  • GPA
  •  Routinely performs at an excellent level
  • Demonstrates their desire and commitment to work in the health and human service profession
  • Is valued by peers and advisors

2017 Outstanding Student Award Recipient: Andrea Kittleson

MSSA is proud to recognize Andrea Kittleson as the 2017 Outstanding Student Award Recipient. Ms. Kittleson will graduate from Concordia College in 2017 with a double major in Social Work and Spanish. Over the course of her college career, Ms. Kittleson has demonstrated her commitment to serving others and her skill in working with culturally diverse populations. On four occasions from 2011-2015, Ms. Kittleson has been part of a medical mission trip to Honduras where she provided translation services in a surgery center. From January to May 2016, while studying in Spain, Ms. Kittleson volunteered with the Spanish Red Cross working with impoverished families and older adults. She also works with Lutheran Social Services to assist children and families who are refugees in the U.S and works with English language learners at a local middle school. Additionally, Ms. Kittleson is engaged in her campus community. She is a member of Concordia’s swim team and works with the Office of Campus Ministry. Congratulations!
