9:00 a.m.          Part 1: What was the Holocaust?
Tim Scott, J.D., LL.M

Over the past 25 years, Tim Scott, attorney, educator, and public speaker, has spoken to thousands of students about the Holocaust and its relevance today. Through story, pictures, and video, Mr. Scott uses Holocaust history to challenge his listeners to identify the “flames” of prejudice, bias, and hate in our communities, schools, and families.

12:00 p.m.        Luncheon

1:00 p.m.          Awards Presentation and Region 7 Business Meeting

1:30 p.m.         Part 2: Why should Americans care about the Holocaust?
Tim Scott, J.D., LL.M

Mr. Scott returns to share his life-changing message on the relevance of the Holocaust for Americans today. Although the Holocaust happened more than half a century ago, today’s headlines are not so different with references to “hate speech”, the “Alt Right Movement”, and hostility toward people who are different from ourselves. The atrocities the Nazis committed are being replayed throughout the world today. People alive during the Holocaust vowed “never again,” yet we know that genocide continues to happen. Mr. Scott’s presentation will lead the audience to a better understanding of the significance of the Holocaust today and challenge us to think critically about current events.

3:15 p.m.          Evaluations/Door Prizes (must be present to win)

3:30 p.m.          Adjourn
